My 43rd Walk For Hunger

On Sunday, May 3rd I will be participating in and completing my 43rd Walk for Hunger. I dedicate my walk each year in memory of Kay Williams, long time member of Union Congregational Church.

While Boston has cut the walk to 3 miles to cut costs, I continue to complete my 20 miles here on Cape Cod each year.

I walk to raise funds to help feed families that are less fortunate than most of us, as they do not know where their next meal is coming from. I walk for the hungry children of this state, that due to no fault of their own, go hungry each and every day!

The need this year is even greater than ever with all the budget cuts to SNAP benefits and food assistance. 1 in 3 families is now food insecure!

I am asking you for your support again this year. Last year, with your financial support, I was able to raise over $13,800.00 for this great cause. I am hoping to raise at least $15,000.00 this year.

There are three ways to show your support:

1)      Go to my direct link at https://give.projectbread.org/Horace43

2)      Venmo me @Horace-Thayer (code is 1106 if needed)

3)      Make a check payable to Project Bread and send it to me at

         69 Warwick Way – Centerville, Ma. 02632

Thank you in advance for your support!

Pew Bibles Old & New

Union’s copies of the Revised Standard Version (published in the 1950s) Pew Bibles that had been gathering dust have been donated to Bibles4Kenya, a missionary project led by Pastor Sammy Kaouri of Christ is the Answer Church in northern Mass. The Deacons have decided to order New Revised Standard Version Pew Bibles (the “Black Bibles” in the pews) so that there are enough for every section of the sanctuary. Members of the congregation will have an opportunity to dedicate a Bible with a $20 donation (via check or Paypal). Dedication forms/envelopes will be available this Sunday in worship.
