Welcome Rev. Ginny This Sunday!

While Pastor Shepherd is away this weekend, Rev. Ginny Coakley Gould will be joining us once again to preach the word, sharing a sermon entitled “Jesus Prayed for You!”

Blood Drive

There will be a blood drive in HHH May 20th (next Wednesday) from 1 pm until 6 pm.
If you would like to help, please get in touch with Rich Keen ([email protected] or 631-645-1794).

Walpole Day “With You”

Despite dreary weather, our congregation had a wonderful chance to see friends and neighbors at Walpole Day! We held a free raffle, and the grand prize winner is getting 100 Apple Harvest Fair Tickets! Folks who visited our tent also “Shared a Prayer,” adding their prayer to a banner you can now see displayed in the church lobby (and in the picture below). Let’s continue to pray for and with our neighbors!

Pew Bible Dedications

30 brand-new Bibles will soon grace the pews in our sanctuary, and you have the chance to dedicate one of them! Dedications can be made in honor or memory of a loved one with a donation of $20. Dedication Forms are available at the back of the sanctuary, and can be placed along with your donation in the offering plate, or to the church office.

Bible Study

Bible Study is meeting on Zoom on Fridays from 1-2 PM. This week, Pastor Shepherd is away; the study will focus on the story of Jesus’s Ascension as told in Luke 24:44-53 / Acts 1: 6-11.

In Luke’s account of the Ascension, it almost seems like it’s happening the very next day after Easter, meaning that the resurrected Jesus was only briefly present with a few disciples. What does this mean for our understanding of the resurrection season of Easter?

Jesus tells the disciples to “stay [wait/remain] in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Why does he tell them to wait? What is it like waiting on God to do something? Is there something God may be doing that you have to wait for right now?

There are a few key differences between the story of Jesus’s ascension in Luke and Acts. How do these differences change the meaning or message of this event?

Why is Jesus’s ascension important for us to celebrate? Wouldn’t it be better if Jesus had not ascended, and just remained on earth forever?
