Food Pantry Deliveries @ Union

Beginning yesterday, Walpole Community Food Pantry is using our parking lot to deliver online orders to clients. On Wednesdays from 2-2:30 pm, volunteers greet clients and load boxes into their cars as they arrive. If you’d like to be one of those volunteers and do the work of feeding people, body and spirit, you can call 508-668-0106 and leave a message, or send an email to WCFP.

“If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what good does it do?” (James 2:15-16)

Sermon Snippet

Lest we forget, the resurrection of Jesus is the single most important event in human history. So miraculous, so mysterious, yet so significant is this event that for 2,000+ years, people have not stopped talking about it.

But this week’s sermon asks: “What if Jesus had not been raised?” After all, the stories of Jesus’s bodily resurrection beggar belief—here one minute, vanishing into thin air the next; asking for food, despite being beyond hunger; giving instructions and explanations that turn the tradition of scriptural interpretation his disciples we’re familiar with completely on its head.

Why do people keep telling these resurrection stories? What difference does it make in our lives? Come and hear the Word this Sunday and find out!

Holding in Prayer

This week, as a community of faith we pray:

  • for Laurie and her family, as they mourn the passing of her aunt Mary; continued prayers for her husband Jerry Record, who struggles with dementia.

  • for Rev. Amy’s brother-in-law Jack, who is being treated for cancer, and his family

  • for the Sandahl Family, and all who mourn Carol’s death

  • for Alan Doty, as he recovers from knee surgery

  • with joy, for successful radiation treatments for Margie’s sister Holly, and for continued healing during her chemotherapy

  • with joyful expectation, as Lew and Pat look forward to the birth of their third grandchild, and for Elizabeth and Cindy.

  • for Rachel Traughber, as she undergoes chemotherapy

  • for Shirley’s niece Karen, as she undergoes treatment for pancreatic cancer

  • for Margie’s aunt and uncle, who are struggling with health challenges and dementia.

  • for healing for Lew’s brother Richard, and his wife Paula.
